00:00I'm humbled and I'm touched and I'm very proud to know that wherever I go and
00:06long after I'm dead my footprints will be here in Hollywood being stood on by a
00:14fake Shrek posing with tourists for a dollar.
00:30In reality my mother was the most important force in my life and she set
00:39an example for me of what it meant to be an independent thinker and an
00:43individual voice unafraid to break with what society expected at a time in this
00:48country when women were looked at as secondary to men.
00:54I've always wanted to be a director yes ever since I was making movies like when
00:59I was a kid.
01:07When I first moved out to LA about 24 years ago I lived in an apartment on
01:12Hollywood and La Brea right over there and I could see this place from there.
01:15I've always loved the history of Hollywood and the history of the movies
01:20it's very very meaningful to me and to be in any way a small part of it is is
01:27really a dream come true for me.
01:48Hi I'm Ben Stiller welcome to the show I guess you're wondering who I am and
01:52what the show's about well I don't know I've never really had a show before it's
01:56my first time.
02:27Are you enjoying your position as the third most powerful man in Hollywood?
02:30It's right where I belong number three.
02:47I was really fortunate you know that my course of treatment was basically you
02:52know an operation and and that was it.
02:56Hi I'm Ben Stiller and I'm honored to be a goodwill ambassador for UNHCR the UN
03:12refugee agency. In many parts of the world the term refugee has unfortunately
03:16become politicized despite the fact that refugees are real people with real
03:21stories stories that are some of the most frightening and traumatic I've
03:24heard.
