00:00Today, we're talking about a fairly simple observation,

00:01which is that we throw 8,000 tons of plastic waste into the oceans every day.

00:04We know very well that it won't be a brand or an individual that will change all of this,

00:08but it's the sum of these individual actions,

00:11whether they come from consumers or brands,

00:14that will ultimately have a positive impact on the environment.

00:26The problem today with plastic watches is that

00:28either they're not made to last,

00:29as is the case with a lot of fashion watch brands,

00:32or they have a fairly strong environmental impact,

00:35since we're looking for economy before eco-responsibilities.

00:38The first impact is actually related to the use of batteries.

00:42These batteries, which in 70% of cases are not recycled,

00:45are renewed every two years

00:46and contribute to the creation of a lot of waste.

00:49Then, the second problem is really the use of chemical products

00:52at all stages of production.

00:53Today, AWAKE's approach is precisely to make beautiful products,

00:57high-quality products, products made to last,

01:00while using recycled and recyclable materials.

01:19Our watches work on solar energy,

01:21which means that they don't need electricity or batteries to work.

01:25The huge advantage of this technology

01:26is that you wear it for a few hours

01:28and you have several months of autonomy.

01:30So it doesn't need any maintenance,

01:32and basically, it never stops.

01:41Eco-responsibilities obviously also involve

01:43reducing carbon impact.

01:45In this context, we really tried to work

01:47only with local players who share the same values.

01:56The AWAKE venture started a little over nine months ago.

01:59It was born thanks to the participatory funding,

02:01where we had more than 1,500 people who supported it.

02:04Beyond sales, I think what surprised us the most

02:07was really the support we had from people who trusted us

02:12and their desire to see more initiatives like ours.
