00:40I'm not suggesting that I'm encouraging people to die, I'm simply saying that I respect their
00:45right to take that step.
00:59I didn't want to go to these people, sit alongside them, put a needle into their vein, press
01:03the plunger and watch them die at the end of the needle.
01:33The idea is to create a nice looking device where you can actually climb into it and press
01:45a button.
01:46And if you climb into it and press that button, which says, I want to die, you will die.
01:51You will die in a very reliable and peaceful and slightly euphoric way.
02:10My own experiences on this have been guided by experiences with people who have come along
02:15to talk to me, people that aren't medically ill, they're not sick, they're not patients
02:20and they give me very good reasons for wanting to die.
02:24Now they say, you've got information and we want it because we want to take this step.
02:29So I agree with them.
02:44Because that is so troubling to many people, we've tended to put this rather arbitrary
02:48criteria of 50 years in, saying in a sense that you've got to have life experience.
02:53Now when you're involved in what is clearly a cutting edge social issue, there will be
02:58a lot of name calling going on from people who don't agree and there was a lot.
