00:00Vegan fashion is not wearing anything that comes from an animal.
00:10So not just not wearing leather or fur, but also not wearing wool, down, or silk.
00:22We might also be wearing wool from sheep or down from geese.
00:33There's also other fabrics like cashmere that have wool in them, and there's angora with
00:39rabbit fur in it.
00:40It's not meant to be cruel, it does end up being cruel, because their care and their
00:45well-being is extensive.
01:16Tons of major labels that have gone for free in the past couple of years, and it's really
01:22exciting.
01:23So we're definitely seeing a trend to people standing up for animals in the fashion industry
01:29and also recognizing that we don't need to kill 40 animals to make a coat.
01:45So there have been a lot of innovations in textiles, like using pineapple leather, apple
01:59leather, mushroom.
02:00We use a satin that is instead of silk, which is made from plastic bottles pulled out of
02:09the Italian River.
02:10And it's then mechanically recycled, not with chemicals, but mechanically recycled, and
02:13looks and feels like beautiful Dutch satin.
02:20Just the past few years, really, the demand for conscious and ethical and vegan and responsible
02:33has increased dramatically, specifically because of our millennial crowd that's very educated.
02:40Every year it's just gotten bigger and the demand has gotten greater, and so this is
02:46the time right now for us to take a minute, take a breather, and really look at how can
02:51we create something that is now even more innovative and amazing.
