Gravelly Beach Metalworks recently won an award for 2025 Best Handmade Metal Garden Art Manufacturer in the country.

00:00In art there's so many different types of art and our art you can see and say that's a taji tiger

00:06or that that's a wombat, that's a seal, you don't have to have an imagination to see what it is.

00:15The very first sculpture we didn't have anything on the books, we were quiet

00:20in the middle of winter so we thought well we'll just go and

00:23we'll attempt to build one of these 3D sculptures because that'd be pretty cool

00:28and we're looking at it and the wife goes to me, she said Karen goes to me

00:32what size should we make it? She says what size should the nose be? I said ah seal nose,

00:36make it 100mm. So it turned out they made this giant big seal that was a lot bigger than we

00:43thought, well I thought at the time, than initially planned. I think every sculpture

00:52we build there's always a challenge, none of them fall together really easy. I could

00:57probably build a wombat fairly quick now but that's only because I've built lots of them.

01:06Old spiky out the front, the larger kid in the front of it,

01:09in the nature strip, he's our favourite animal because he's big and spiky and he stands out,

01:17you'd be surprised how many people pull up out the front and take photos.

01:21He took 250 hours to build, it took a long time, there was over four days just to welding him,

01:28let alone clean him up or even building him. So yeah there was a lot of time

01:33to get him to where he is now but he's definitely iconic isn't he.
