00:14It's hard to get away from them, and I definitely feel that.
00:18I didn't grow up in this at all.

00:30American Racing Academy, and I enrolled in that in 2016.
00:35And then I've been here with Danny for three and a half years now.
00:41The satisfaction you have of working with these animals every single day and putting
00:46in the work, and it's hard work, but at the same time, it's so satisfying.
00:52It's one of the most rewarding feelings I've ever had.
00:55Doorknock came into the stable a year, about a year and a half ago, but yeah, I started
01:00riding him immediately, and I liked him right from the start.
01:04We all did.
01:05Just how, he's always been big, and just his personality, he's got a lot, a lot of personality.
01:12He can always spot a camera on the track.
01:14If you ever see pictures of him out there, he's always got one eye on the camera.
01:17He's just a big, happy horse.
01:19He goes out there every day, and he just wants everyone to know that he's there.
01:25He's one, he likes winning.
01:27I swear he knows when he wins or when he doesn't win.
01:31We were very excited coming out of the Belmont, and knowing that this next race was a win
01:36in your end was very exciting.
01:38I have never been on a win in your end possibility, you know?
01:42You know, after the Belmont, people were saying it was a speed-favoring track, and he got
01:47the perfect trip and all that, but I think Haskell Day, he really showed that he is
01:52the real deal.
01:55We were really happy with the break and the position.
01:58Sias did exactly what he needed to do to get him out of there.
02:02Right here, we see 48, and we're okay.

02:05And the track wasn't too speed-favoring that day either, so we didn't want to be going
02:09really fast.
02:10This is where it gets a little nervous.
02:14The horses are coming up on him, but this is what he likes.
02:17He likes the pressure.
02:18It's mind-framed, confidently handled, switches leads, and gets the cue to go.
02:24Doorknock is trying hard, but he's just behind.
02:28This is where I was like, we're good, we're good.
02:30But yeah, we were screaming as he's coming down the stretch here.

02:41Just watching it again just makes me so happy.
02:45There is a certain amount of pressure that comes with riding a horse like Doorknock,
02:49but I try not to think about it too much because I have to go out there every day and just
02:54do my job.
02:55This is the best horse I've ever sat on in my life, for sure.
02:58Coming to the barn early and just being around these animals, it's something I love, you
03:03know, and to be able to be paid for doing something I love and that's my job that I
03:09get to come do every day is just, I couldn't ask for anything better.
