00:27Curlin was a little funny sometimes.

00:30You didn't want to pick a fight with him.

00:32And it's all Curlin in the race of the year for horse of the year.

00:36It's Curlin in an absolutely stylish performance.

00:42Gunrunner, when he first came from the farm or wherever they had him,

00:47I was the first one getting on him.

00:49And it was something exciting.

00:52But Gunrunner's on top of the world.

00:55He wins the Breeders' Cup Classic over Collective.

00:58So I started galloping Cogburn at the fairgrounds

01:02when they first brought him back from Maleo.

01:04And oh my god, he came back so different.

01:07And Steve come to watch him work, and he always

01:10asked me, how does it feel?

01:12Unbelievable.

01:14He's training like a champ.

01:16And they're off in the jiper, presented by Resolute Racing.

01:21He broke good.

01:22Quickly, but so is Cogburn, and Cogburn.

01:24And right there, I was watching.

01:27And I'm like, he went to the lead.

01:30He's doing it so easy.

01:32I mean, look at the cross of the reins around Ortiz.

01:36Look how Ortiz is sitting on the horse.

01:39I mean, look at him.

01:40Look at the fractions.

01:41And look at him, how easy he's doing.

01:44And right there is when I said, you know what?

01:46He's gone.

01:46Nobody's going to catch him.

01:48This is over.

01:49Arzak is finding his best stride.

01:50Center of the course, mischief, magic, but Cogburn.

01:54Dominates the jiper.

01:56Wins by four and a half.

01:58Cogburn, he's a fun horse to ride.

02:01But he's another horse that you have to get along with him.

02:05So the more you keep your hands down on him and go with him,

02:10he's better.

02:12When you work a horse, it's not about just stepping

02:17I think there's something that you have to use your head.

02:20That's important to have a connection with the horse,

02:23because the horse knows if the person is scared.

02:26Show him that you're with him.

02:28Show him that you're going to help him, not hurt him.

02:35Because you have the communication with them.

02:37Not the same language, but if you figure it out,

02:41they're animals, but they're smart.

02:46This job is not their fault.

02:48And if you love it, you're going to do it.

02:51I'm not going to say that I don't complain,

02:54but it's hard to catch me in a bad mood.

02:58I want to do this as long as I can.
