00:36I talked to my trainer, Chad Brown, and I asked him before the sale, what do you think
00:41of Ways and Means' potential?
00:42Do you think she's a grade one winner?
00:45And Chad said, all day long.
00:56So I paid $2.1 million for her, I knew she was going to be a very expensive mare.
01:03Since I bought her, she is a multiple grade one producer.
01:06It's a big step to go from that to the rare air of being a multiple grade one producer.
01:13At the level that she is now, you have horses like Urban Sea, like Leslie's Lady, like
01:19Toussaint.
01:20I mean, these are horses of generations, and producers of generations.
01:23You know, there are books written called Blue Hens about mares like her.
01:29It's hard to imagine a better producer in the world, much less on offer at public auction,
01:35than Strong Incentive.
01:37She's produced three just amazing racehorses, starting with Highly Motivated.
01:42Tremendous racehorse himself, by End of Mischief, she's produced him.
01:46Surge Capacity last year, the race that she ran in the Matriarch was just breathtaking.
01:51She defeated the very best of the best.
01:54She's in fold to End of Mischief carrying her first fold.
01:57She'll also be offered in our sale this year.
02:00You know, Ways and Means is just a fantastic racehorse.
02:03She demonstrated a tremendous amount of quality last year as a two-year-old.
02:07She is head of the class, certainly of the three-year-old sprint fillies, and come Breeders'
02:12Cup, we'll see if she's head of the class for all sprint fillies.
02:18After she became a multiple grade one producer, I thought about selling her.
02:25And I knew that even if I wanted to keep her, that even if I didn't, I had a filly by good
02:32magic that would carry on the family for me and my breeding program.
02:37I think she's worth too much to continue to add to a broodmare band, so I decided to
02:43put her in the Facing November sale this year.
02:48She's carrying a fold to End of Mischief, so you've got a full sibling to Highly Motivated,
02:54plus you've got a three-quarter to Ways and Means, being a daughter of Practical Joke.
02:59She's only 12, carrying her sixth fold, and has a tremendous opportunity ahead of her.
03:04Every year we're going to have a mare that's produced three horses of that quality, period.
03:08And to think that she's still young, she's in fold, arguably the best day in the United
03:12States, it's the real deal.
03:15I think strong incentive appeals to a broad buyer's market.
03:18I know that some of the under-bidders were international as well as domestic.
03:24When you've got a mare with such a great pedigree and production pedigree, I think anyone that's
03:31in the breeding business would want to have her.
