00:00A big sale at Saratoga this summer features a real collector's item, a Colt by Curlin

00:08out of Champion Beholder.

00:11This is the first of her folds to be offered at auction by Spendthrift, and we caught up

00:15with the farm's general manager, Ned Toffey, to hear all about it.

00:20We're really excited this year at Saratoga to offer a variety of nice yearlings, but

00:25highlighted by a Colt by Curlin out of Beholder being sold by tailor-made sales.

00:32This will be the first of her offspring offered at public auction.

00:36She's now a graded stakes producer, so we really feel like this is an exciting opportunity

00:42for buyers to get into one of the best pedigrees that there is and to have the chance to buy

00:48a really athletic, really special, special Colt.

00:51A little bit of a no-brainer in breeding her to Curlin.

00:54This is sort of the old adage of breeding the best of the best and hoping for the best.

00:59She's a half-sister to Indomitia, so that was out.

01:02We always felt like she had enough speed to suit Curlin, who tends to get a little more

01:07classic type.

01:09We've got a physical that would suggest that that's what we've got.

01:12So Beholder has now produced a graded stakes winner by Warfront.

01:18For Beholder to have the pedigree that she's got, the race record that she's got, the looks

01:24that she's got, and now to add graded stakes producer to her resume puts her in an incredibly

01:31elite group of broodmares, and we're looking forward to more.

01:37She's also got a two-year-old that's now in training with Richard Mandela by Bolt Doro.

01:42By all accounts, seems to have the most ability, including the grade three winner, that we've

01:48seen so far.

01:49Now, Will, that's got to be proven out, but very, very good early reviews on that one.

01:56And so hopefully, Beholder is really just getting started now and seems to have figured

02:01the broodmare game out.

02:03So the pipeline seems pretty loaded, and she seems poised to take off.

02:09And this colt, we feel like physically has a different look about him.

02:16He's got all the tools, and hopefully he'll put all that together.

02:22This is a colt that's got, like Beholder, got a great mind.

02:26There's an intensity about him, but there's also great intelligence, and he handles things

02:30well.

02:31He takes everything in stride.

02:32I think Saratoga, for the right horse, it's just a magical place to sell a horse, and

02:38I think it's a great place to take a marquee horse.

02:41There's an incredible atmosphere there, and I think we're looking forward to being able

02:47to capitalize on that.

02:49This is the kind of horse that you like to take there, let him show himself off to all

02:56of the top buyers and see what he can do.
