00:20For Juddmott to bring in a horse like Mandaloon is very special.
00:24He was born and raised here at the farm, got his early lessons here at the farm, and the
00:30goal and the dream of Juddmott and for the Prince was always to breed and race at the
00:38highest level.
00:40Mandaloon debuted at Keeneland going six furlongs, was a TDN Rising Star.
00:45Out of that race, he beat the eventual grade one winner, American Revolution, another graded
00:50stakes winner, and a couple of other stakes winners out of that race, so it was a very
00:53live race.
00:54At three, as he began stretching out, winning the Rising Star impressively, you go down
00:59the list of the horses that were in the derby that finished behind him, Essential Quality,
01:03Hot Rod Charlie, Midnight Bourbon.
01:06It's a who's who of that three-year-old crop, and then to come back as he did in the Haskell
01:12and be right there, beating that same group again.
01:15He was very sound throughout his career, very straightforward, easy to train, and still
01:21to this day, very easy to be around at the barn.
01:23He's a very classy, classy individual.
01:26He brings out the best of Intimischief and Empire Maker.
01:30He's got the strength, he's got a strong hip, a great hind leg, and he's got the elegance
01:35and the size and the scope and stretch of Empire Maker.
01:40He's a perfect blend of the two, in my opinion.
01:42I started at Juddmott at the beginning of October.
01:45My job here is stallion nominations manager, so I've been very busy my first month and
01:50a half, but very exciting.
01:53Mandaloon's a very cool horse to me because I was at Keeneland the day he broke his maiden
01:56and got to see him run there.
01:58He was a horse I followed all the way through, so it's very exciting to get to now represent
02:04him in this next step in his career.
02:08Mandaloon's pedigree is unique for us in that it's 11 generations of black-type horses,
02:14and then the first four generations on his female side, it's a Juddmott mare to a Juddmott
02:19stallion all the way up to his dam.
02:22Prince Khalid bought a mare named Queen of Song, who's a half-sister to Cormorant, who
02:27was the sire of Gopher Gin, so it's a classic Dirk pedigree all the way back to the fourth
02:32generation, and Mandaloon is 40 years of work, and there have been plenty of other horses
02:38along the way, but to have a classic winning son here that's a homebred has always been
02:43the dream here for Juddmott.
