00:11increasingly towards London, hence the venue for those talks, very much singing from the

00:15same song sheet. But how would you describe, what words would you use to describe the state

00:21of transatlantic relations between Europe and the United States? Where are we?

00:27I think it is a necessary link, but a difficult one. I mean that Europeans shouldn't wait

00:37every four years to know what's the decision of 20,000 electorate in the US. They must

00:45be autonomous, put burden inside NATO, the European pillar, and then be able to discuss

00:56with US and not only to sustain what US is deciding. So I think the link is really necessary,

01:07but we must be realistic. Europe is not in the centre of the interest of the US. So we

01:16should show that we are an important part of the link, not only the US link, but also

01:24the European link.
