An appeal for a commemorative playground in memory of Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King has surpassed its target.

00:01Churchtown Primary School's raising funds for a new playground to honour the memory of two of its former pupils who tragically lost their lives in the Southport Stabbings.
00:11Alice Aguirre and Bebe King were killed along with seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stankham in the attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
00:19Alice's father, Sir Joe, is running the London Marathon alongside the school's headteacher to help raise funds for the playground.
00:27Members of staff from the school and across the Endeavour Learning Trust, which Churchtown Primary is part of, are also running in memory of Alice and Bebe.
00:35The GoFundMe page says it will be a place where they can do what children do best, play and explore and grow,
00:42and is designed to offer a variety of opportunities for over 700 children so they can each thrive in their own unique way.
00:49With a fundraising goal of £250,000, almost 10,000 donations have been made and this target has already been surpassed.
00:57Mr Aguirre said he was overwhelmed by the generosity.
01:01The new playground, which was suggested by Alice's parents, will be commemorated in Alice and Bebe's memory.
01:07It will contain a dedicated performance space, a new indoor and outdoor library where pupils and their families can come together, as well as a trim and trail track.
01:16Plans also feature enhancements to the early years playground, including a den building area to inspire creativity and adventure.
01:23The minimum term Axel Rueda-Gabana must serve in custody for the attack is one of the highest on record and is thought to be the longest punishment handed to a killer of his age.
01:32Rueda-Gabana was jailed for a minimum of 52 years in January for the murders of the three girls and attempted murder of eight other children, class instructor Leanne Lucas and businessman John Hayes.
