00:00massive vehicles, huge wheels, loud engines and lots of mud. This is the intense and dirty
00:18world of mega-mud trucks.
00:21The adrenalin rush is like no other. It is unbelievable.
00:27every event. There's going to be the tire pull. There's hill and hole event, that's
00:32where we jump the truck, cross three hills as a timed event. There will also be mud drags
00:37where we're in the mud, side by side drag racing. It's better than any drug.
00:45An avid fan of mega truck events, Ryan Kemp from Georgia, USA, felt he could no longer
00:51stay on the sidelines and decided to have his own competition standard vehicle built
00:56so he could take part himself. That original truck is just a two wheel drive
01:01low rider street truck. Bought it over in South Carolina. I made about a four hour drive.
01:06Basically there and back, bought the truck, took it to BMF Fab. They began the process
01:11of starting the chassis. It took a whole year and an outlay of $80,000
01:17for his 650 mega truck to be finished. It's a 1950 Chevrolet, a full body truck,
01:26it's all steel. It has a 540 blower motor. It's a 1271 BDS street blower. Runs on alcohol.
01:35It's got two and a half ton axles, front and rear. It has 20 inch travel Scott shocks.
01:42These are the 13.626BKT171s. They've been cut and scooped for more traction. The rims
01:50are powder coated with a metallic finish. It's got the full roll cage, five point harnesses,
01:58special seats, everything about them. Safety is definitely number one priority.
02:03Despite the extensive safety features, Ryan's wife Brittany still has her concerns.
02:09As his wife, I'm always his number one fan. When we were at West Georgia Mud Park a couple
02:13weeks ago, they were just out playing around. They had done a jump. When he landed, he landed
02:19on two wheels. That is probably the most nerve wracking thing, is just knowing that there
02:25is a possibility that they could flip. So far, Ryan has taken part in eight competitions
02:33and today he's driving at Trucks Gone Wild at Bithlow Mud Racing in Florida, USA. Even
02:40before the event has begun, his vehicle is attracting attention.
02:44Very unique truck. One of a kind. Beautiful paint job. Beautiful truck. Nice craftsmanship.
02:49I think it's beautiful. I've always loved older model vehicles. You can see one all
02:54jacked up with all the different equipment that you don't see on other vehicles.
02:59But it won't stay clean and shiny for long, as Ryan prepares for today's event.
03:05We have different events at every event. This one happens to be the tire pull. This is the
03:08tri-truck challenge. There will be a three truck team.
03:39We're two seconds off the leader. So right now, we're in second place. So that's a great
03:43day overall. It was an awesome run. The teammates did great. It was perfect.
03:48But the end of the competition isn't the end of Ryan's day with his pride and joy.
03:53As soon as I get home, I try to wash it as quick as I can. It comes off a little bit
03:56easier. The pressure washing process and all that, it can take anywhere from three to four
03:59hours to get it cleaned up. This truck will never be for sale. It's just something I've
04:04dreamed of and I have a year of my life and time and money involved in. I'll hang on to
04:09that one and give it to my son.
