We spoke to Down's Ryan McEvoy after his side's win over Westmeath this evening.

00:00Brian you get over to the line of the night, fair to say a very important win?

00:03Yeah definitely, definitely an important win. We really needed to keep our hopes up in this

00:09division and we're just delighted that we got the result in the end.

00:13And you're pushing at the end, probably the game was level coming down the stretch but

00:16a draw probably wouldn't have done you much good either, you had to go and win it.

00:19We had to go and win it, we needed and wanted the win, we weren't even here without the

00:23win so just delighted that we got the hunger and desire to go on and win the game in the

00:28end when it was getting tight so just happy for the win.

00:32And look, I know you've been down towards the bottom of the table but you've probably

00:34been unlucky, you've lost a lot of tight games and what was the message from the management

00:38sort of coming into these last couple of games?

00:40It's just the past couple of weeks we've been working on ourselves and doing a lot of work

00:45there and the message was just go and play and enjoy it and just try and get the three

00:49points over the line and just express ourselves and enjoy ourselves.

00:53And look it was a great game to watch in the stands, 126 to 28 points is some scoring,

00:57must have been a great game to play in.

00:58It was tit for tat the whole way through, a couple of great Lachlan and Bobby Ford and

01:04a couple of quality forwards but the game was just to get over the line and win with

01:09two points.

01:10And you're now on four points a level with the likes of Cork and Louth but you don't

01:12want to push on now next week as well and get another result?

01:14Definitely, I want to go to Clonamas next week and get another result there and play

01:18in the division.

01:19And it was great, you're getting mobbed there for selfies and autographs at the end, it's

01:22great to see that though isn't it for when you get a win here at home?

01:25It's great to see all the supporters out tonight, a massive crowd, they're roaring and cheering

01:29us on, they really got us over the line and let's really dig deep.
