00:00Mark Carney has been sworn in as Canada's 24th Prime Minister.

00:07He'll now have to steer his country through a trade war started by the United States.

00:12Donald Trump put 25% tariffs on Canada's steel and aluminium

00:16and is threatening sweeping duties on all Canadian products from the 2nd of April.

00:21Carney, who is head of the Bank of Canada, said he respects Trump's agenda

00:25and is looking forward to speaking with him.

00:28We understand the importance President Trump places on American workers and American jobs.

00:35We want him and his administration to understand the importance we put on Canadian workers and Canadian jobs.

00:42Carney also said that Canada will never in any way be part of the United States.

00:48Those remarks come after threats from Trump to annex the country and make it the 51st state.

00:54The annexation threat has infuriated Canadians and caused a spike in nationalism.
