00:15So Aja, what hooks you to a project?

00:17Writing, the writing.

00:18The writing will always be the thing.

00:20It's like, what is the story?

00:22Am I engaged by it?

00:24Is it like exciting me, challenging me?

00:27And when I read this script,

00:28I was just like, this is going to be so much fun

00:32to play dress up and boss people around.

00:36It's like, that's all I ever want to do.

00:38Are we back in high school?

00:39Yeah, except the cheerleader

00:41is going to set the band kid to jail.

00:43Aja, do you garden in real life?

00:45No, I don't garden.

00:49Like plants come to me to die.

00:52I am just like, how much do you want to survive?

00:55Cause you better make it on your own.

00:56I don't got time to keep you alive.

00:59I know the show filmed in Atlanta and I love the A.

01:03Have you gotten a chance to hang out

01:04and go out to eat with your co-stars?

01:06Or should we say partners in crime?

01:08Oh yes, yes.

01:10I mean, so we're still in Atlanta.

01:11We're still filming.

01:12Like, yes, I know.

01:14We're still going and it's amazing.

01:16I love it here.

01:17The city is so beautiful.

01:18There's so many green spaces, which is really incredible.

01:22Especially when you're a parent

01:23and you have the aquarium and the zoo and these huge parks.

01:27And then with my cast mates, like, yeah, the food here,

01:29the food scene is stunning.

01:33We are eating very well.

01:35Your beautiful son is growing up fast.

01:38He's three now and we know he is such a blessing for you.

01:41Is he a mama's boy or a daddy's bestie?

01:43He is daddy's bestie.

01:44He literally, he said he wanted to cut his hair,

01:48which was devastating to me.

01:51And he was like, I want my hair short like daddy.

01:54And I was just like, oh God.

01:57Like, but okay.

01:58Because we want him to have ownership over himself.

02:02You know, like, yes, this is your hair.

02:04You can cut it.

02:04Hair grows, it's fine.

02:06And so he got his big boy haircut

02:09and it made him look older.

02:10And I was just like, oh my God,

02:12like you're not a little baby anymore.

02:15But he's so happy.

02:15He has so much energy.

02:18They're like out in mammoth snowboarding right now.

02:23Yes, I got a little snowboarder on my hands.

02:26Has he seen you in an ad or maybe seen you on TV

02:29and been like, yeah, that's my mom.

02:30There'll be moments like when,

02:33when there was a billboard after the Emmy nomination,

02:36we definitely drove to the billboard

02:38to have a little family photo in front of it.

02:41And he was like, that's you.

02:44Like he didn't understand, but he was like,

02:47oh, that's you mommy.

02:49That's a picture of you.

02:51And like to see him like recognize me,

02:53like he has no concept of this,

02:56but like it was, it did something for me

02:59to hear him go like, that's you.

03:01And I was just like, that is me.

03:05Mommy's doing it.

03:06You helped us all fall in love

03:08with one of our forever fave shows,

03:10How To Get Away With Murder.

03:12But girl, it wrapped almost five years ago.

03:14How is that possible?

03:16I know, it's insane.

03:18It's like, it blows my mind.

03:20Someone said to me the other day

03:21that it was like 10 years since the premiere

03:24of How To Get Away With Murder.

03:27And I was like, how, how is that possible?

03:30I feel like that was just yesterday.

03:33Oh, and that, yeah, that experience,

03:36that was, that was so incredible.

03:38That was the best.

03:38Like, yeah, I'll always like, you know.
