00:00Ram Narain tells TV6 Trinidad and Tobago's energy sector is much more than
00:06just the Dragon gas deal. In fact the former minister says the Prime Minister
00:12may have prioritized it far too much. Trinidad and Tobago will not rise and fall on the
00:19Dragon deal in my respectful view. So that's that's I think it's important
00:25that we continue to pursue it and I hear what the Prime Minister is saying about
00:29sovereignty and our relationships with the US and Venezuela and so on but I
00:34don't think that you know I don't think the cuckoo will be cucked alright to
00:40borrow from from him if this doesn't happen. Of course there are other places
00:44we could sell our LNG, South America and Europe and so on and Asia but we have to
00:50now question where was the diversification vision in the last
00:55couple years. The Prime Minister was expressing concern over the nation's
00:59ability to pay its bills if the United States does not renew the OFAC license.
01:04Ram Narain believes this country must consider its viability in other regions
01:10now that America which was our biggest purchaser of natural gas is now the
01:16world's largest seller of the commodity. I agree with the Prime Minister when he
01:21says that you know the next couple years are going to be challenging. I had
01:24seen it since 2022 in terms of my own forecasting of gas production. Minister
01:30Inbert has corroborated that in his affidavit and then of course the head of
01:34Shell Mr. Lomas he corroborated that yeah at the energy conference but here
01:40we are. Earlier this week Dr. Rowley told media the next few years will be tough.
01:46Ram Narain holds the same position. Ram Narain noted the oil boost in Guyana and
01:52Suriname and said this country could situate itself as a maritime service hub
01:58for the region. Nicole M Romany TV6 News
