00:00President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in a press conference on late Tuesday night, March 11,
00:06defends the Philippines' decision to facilitate the handover of former President Rodrigo Duterte
00:11to the International Criminal Court, saying his arrest was done in compliance with our
00:16commitments to Interpol.
00:17Interpol asked for help and we obliged because we have commitments to the Interpol which
00:24we have to fulfill.
00:27If we don't do that, they will no longer help us with other cases involving Filipino
00:34fugitives abroad.
00:36Marcos adds this was what the international community expected from the Philippines as
00:40a democratic country and a member of the global community.
00:43He also says the Philippines followed every single necessary procedure in serving the
00:47warrant and the decision to arrest Duterte and sending him to The Hague does not violate
00:51Philippine sovereignty.
00:53The President also denies that politics played a role in the decision to arrest his predecessor.
