00:00Following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, the Davao City Council adjourned its session early in the morning yesterday.

00:11This was in order for the councilors of Candlelighting in Rizal Park to work together.

00:16They prayed together and lit candles to show their support for the former president and former mayor of Lungson.

00:26He loves the country. He is pro-people.

00:29And to see him, to see things like this happening to him, that's painful for us.

00:37This should not be done to him because all he has really is for the future of this country and the future of every Filipino.

00:49We are supposed to be celebrating.

00:59He stood for us, and again, now in the time for us to stand for him.

01:06Let us protect former President Rodrigo Duterte. Let us protect our mayor. Let us protect him at all costs.

01:18Some Davao residents also expressed their feelings about what happened.

01:23It's painful for me that our president was arrested.

01:28It's painful for me. Of course, I don't want this to happen to the people.

01:33I don't want this to happen to him. I don't want this to happen to his future.

01:39Yesterday evening,

01:44more than 1,000 supporters of the former president gathered for Candlelighting in Rizal Park.

01:52Some of the supporters of FPRRD were able to reach GMA Regional TV at Davao International Airport,

02:01which is located in Manila, to support the president.

02:05I am happy that he is now in Manila.

02:08I don't want Duterte to be arrested.

02:16According to the Davao City Police Office, not less than 1,100 people gathered.

02:23Authorities are spreading the word to ensure the security of the area.

02:28The gathering lasted until late at night.

02:31Meanwhile, through a Facebook post, the son of the former president, Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte,

02:40commented that he will never forget the issue of the national budget in the middle of his father's arrest.

02:47He also called it desperation.
