00:00The price of electricity in Meralco will rise again this month.

00:03The reason for this is what Noel Talagay found out at the center of the news. Noel?

00:11Now, Manila Electric Company or Meralco announced the price of electricity this March.

00:18From P12.00 and P0.002 per kWh, to P12.29 per kWh, or P0.26 per kWh, in total electricity bill.

00:38For typical families who consume P200 per kWh, this will result in P53.00.

00:48According to Meralco, the main reason for the rise is the end of the one-time regulatory reset fee adjustment,

01:01as well as the high transmission charge and feed-in tariff allowance, or FEATOL.

01:09The overall rise of P0.16 per kWh was slowed down due to the generation charge.

01:21This is due to the lower cost from Meralco's power supply.

01:26P0.4 per kWh is also an increase from BUIS and other charges.

01:35According to Meralco, the distribution charges have not changed since August 2022.

01:44Despite the rise in electricity prices, Meralco still has an agreement with consumers regarding the heating time.

01:52We consistently remind the public to practice energy efficiency.

01:58Two of the appliances that are heavily consumed this summer are air-conditioning units and refrigerators.

02:05For air-conditioning units, let's make sure that the air-conditioning filter is always clean.

02:12Set it to 25 degrees instead of the usual 18 and 19 settings if we want it to be very cold.

02:2325 degrees is comfortable, but at the same time, it does not hurt.

02:29Meralco is also saying to avoid using low-quality electricity and to avoid using it as an off-the-put

02:38in order to avoid the burning of the heating time.
