00:09Yes Joe, it seems that the meralco consumer should tighten their belts again and be careful in spending this Christmas.

00:19Meralco will again implement the increase in currency. This is what Meralco announced earlier in their press conference.

00:29According to Joey Saldarriaga, Vice President and Head of Corporate Communication of Meralco,

00:35the main reason for the increase is the generation charge and transmission charge.

00:40This month, Meralco added 10 cents per kilowatt-hour to their bills.

00:47This means that for a consumer to consume 200 kilowatt-hours per month, this is equivalent to 21 pesos added to the total bill.

00:57Just last month, in November, Meralco added 43 cents.

01:04According to Joey Saldarriaga, Meralco will not receive the additional charge that they are giving to their consumers,

01:11but it will go to the company that transmits and supplies Meralco's electricity.
