00:00It's actually inspired by the movie, the film Chicago in 2002, and what we try to do in
00:27this show is completely opposite of the musical. Instead of being full-blood costumes, we have
00:34every single number, all with bright costumes, feathers, sparkles, and it's basically her
00:42dreams being on a stage. That's what we are putting out here at the London Opera.
00:49There are a lot of original ideas from us, and trying to do completely different than
00:55the musical so that people see a unique Chicago version. We brought some Chicago songs from
01:03Franz Sinatra, we have some songs from actually tango before cell block tango, and it's very
01:09unique. People need to come and see it because it's a totally different experience.
01:25We try and tie it in with the venue. We're in
01:55a 1920s art deco ballroom here. The venue itself lends itself to a 1920s show, so that
02:03was one of the inspirations. And just the idea of bringing Roxy to life on stage, bringing
02:10her to London and seeing her hit stardom on a London stage.
