00:44Aww, And I bet...
00:47I bet you were sitting there going,
00:49Aw, what's happening?
00:51Do you ever seen that guy walk down the aisle?
00:55And you're like, why is he coming down here?
00:57Give it up for...
00:58Donny Gillespie!
01:05Were you expecting this?
01:08I was expecting something certainly like this.
01:13That's fair.
01:14Now, can we do something?
01:16Like, why don't we take a big selfie with all of them?
01:19Can we come in without the long arms?
01:22Alright, ready?
01:23Like, give me a big hug!
01:25An ovation!
01:27Everybody, come on in!
01:42That has been such a joy for me.
01:45I love that.
01:47I feel proud.
01:49I've never seen this, so I'm so excited about this.
01:53My partner, he loves this.
01:55He's jealous that you're here and I'm here.
01:57This is fabulous.
01:59But there's a movie like Mum in the Front Row.
02:01Hasn't he seen the film?
02:03But I want you to have a brilliant time
02:05because I'm going to shut up now.
02:07As I said, our big boss will be leaving this year
02:10and I'm going to pass over to the amazing
02:12Alison Gardner!
02:18So, I'm Alison Gardner.
02:24So, welcome to this screening of Muriel's Wedding.
02:27The years we've tried to bring these pop-up events
02:30to make it much more fun for you guys,
02:33this is not going to be top.
02:37I know we had the thing on the indoor ski slope
02:40and we had the Moss Boys at Emma D's theme park.
02:43Yes!
02:44And Blair Witch Project at Muddock Park.
02:47But Muriel's Wedding is one of my favourite films.
02:54And I can't believe it's 13 years old.
03:00And so, the thing is, the characters are beautifully written
03:04and it's both funny and touching at equal measure.
03:08And so, a lot of you have been at the festival over the year
03:11and I'm so delighted that Tony McCleod has decided to come.
03:18Top off the pop-ups, so when I leave next year,
03:22it's never going to be me.
03:26I'm going to pass over to Muriel Purcell.
03:37OK, so I am here because...
03:39I suppose it was you, Alison, who contacted my manager.
03:42And the Glasgow Film Festival
03:45invited me to make a video to introduce the movie tonight.
03:49And I said, yeah, yeah, sure, absolutely.
03:51But actually, I'm filming in London, which is just down the road.
03:56So if I happen to have the day off,
03:58maybe I can just find my way there.
04:00And I did happen to have the day off.
04:06And, you know, any excuse to come to Scotland.
04:09And any excuse to celebrate film.
04:12And I have to say, I really did not know what to expect.
04:17And sorry for intruding upon your dance then,
04:20but I thought I'd just have to get up and be a part of it.
04:24It wasn't what was discussed.
04:29But it just, honestly, it's 30 years.
04:32I turned 21 when I was making this movie and I'm now 52.
04:36Thank you, baby!
04:40I'm really good.
04:42And it just really amazes me
04:44that an experience that changed my life profoundly
04:49still resonates with people.
04:51And this character means so much to people
04:53and continues to inspire people.
04:55So thank you for having her here tonight.
04:58CHEERING
05:00I'm quite moved and tempted to stay, but I won't,
05:03because I've seen it 11 times!
05:07But enjoy the movie and I hope she continues to inspire.
05:10And thank you for having me. Thank you, everybody.
05:12And enjoy retirement!
