00:50In my video, I had said that it's a rare side effect of the flu.
01:19Typically this is not a normal thing that people get after having the flu.
01:24Can it happen?
01:25Yes, of course, but typically this isn't something that you need to look at or worry about, but
01:31unfortunately with the flu that's going around right now, this is becoming really, really,
01:37really common.
01:38For my daughter, personally, she had literally just went through a surgery a week and a half
01:47before she ended up getting the flu.
01:51Not only was her immune system compromised because of her surgery, but with having her
01:55tonsils and adenoids taken out, she hadn't eaten any real food or a real meal in several
02:03days because of her healing.
02:06And because her body didn't have the amount of energy that it needed, she then had this
02:16side effect from the flu.
02:18Don't get it twisted.
02:19This can't happen without having a surgery a week before.
02:25I just think in my mom brain that this is why it happened to her.
02:33I'm very thankful that I saw another video about this, actually a couple days before
02:40this happened to my daughter, because when I started noticing that she was struggling
02:47to walk that morning, I told my husband, I don't like the way that this looks.
02:53I just saw a video on TikTok of another mom whose kid was going through this.
02:59I was like, so this is worrying me.
03:01Everyone in my family kept telling me, it's fine, it's just leg pain, it's just muscle
03:07pain.
03:09Make sure she's drinking a lot of water, blah, blah, blah.
03:11And I'm like, she is drinking a lot of water, but she's not eating.
03:14She hadn't eaten in three days because her throat was so raw from her surgery and from
03:20vomiting from having the flu that her thought of eating was out the window.
03:27So I gave her an Epsom salt bath, hoping that that would relax her muscles.
03:33We laid down for a nap because she was tired.
03:36I was tired.
03:38We have had a lot going on with just being sick and being in and out of doctor's appointments.
03:43And we woke up and her legs were not functioning.
03:48And that's when I knew something's not right.
03:52She has to go get checked out.
