00:00Malaysian journalist Bin Nanta Kumar insisted that he has never asked for bribe from a foreign worker agent

00:07or took advantage of an article in which he wrote,

00:10denouncing the Foreign Workers' Reconciliation Syndicate.

00:13In today's Malaysian report, Nanta denies the claim of SPRM Chief Executive Officer Azam Baky

00:19that he asked for a bribe of RM100,000,

00:22which was then deducted up to RM20,000 from a foreign worker agent.

00:27He said the two Pakistan agents mentioned in the article offered him RM50,000 to settle the matter,

00:34but he refused.

00:36Nanta said he immediately informed the matter to the State Immigration Director

00:41who asked him to reconnect with the agent to help collect more concrete evidence.

00:47Nanta and the Pakistan agent then agreed to meet at a hotel in Sialam

00:52where he pretended to be interested in working with the agent.

00:56He said the agent then handed over a copy of the letter, which he took as evidence,

01:01to be handed over to the Immigration Director.

01:04However, Nanta said that within a few seconds,

01:07more than a dozen SPRM officers stopped him

01:10after being detained for four days before being released on bail.
