00:10A man was brought to court in Johor Bahru today
00:14on charges of burning his wife's car in a car accident last week.
00:19The accused, Chai Kaufung, 26, who works in an accessories shop,
00:23admitted to not being guilty after the charge was read in front of Judge Talha Bacho.
00:28Based on the indictment, he was charged with treason
00:32resulting in damage by burning his wife's Toyota Vios 2021.
00:40Chai is accused of committing the crime on Tebrau Road
00:43at around 10.20 p.m. on February 2.
00:48The charge against him is presented under Section 435 of the Penal Code
00:53which brings a maximum sentence of 14 years
00:56and can be imposed on him if proven guilty.
