FC Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes joined the K&C Masterpiece to talk about the beginning of FC Dallas' 2025 season, what it's meant to him to become the #1 goalkeeper for the club, what it means to play for the Indonesian national team, and more!

00:00For people who aren't familiar, you've been entrenched as the keeper here for a while,

00:20like the starting keeper for a while, but you just now have moved over to number one.

00:25Is that right?

00:26And can you explain like why it kind of took a minute?

00:29Yeah, so when I came here, they had a club legend in Jimmy Morrow here, who was here

00:36I think for more than five years.

00:40And I just wanted to really respect him because he always treated me with a lot of respect

00:44and he had number one.

00:46So I was like, when I came, I came very late in preseason and then there was only a couple

00:51numbers left.

00:52And then I choose 30 and yeah, Jimmy was here for the three years prior to this.

00:58So I was like, well, just to stick to the winning formula, right.

01:02And then Jimmy left this season to Houston Dynamo.

01:05And then I was like, well, I'm also wearing the number one at my national team right now.

01:10So yeah, I got to link those up and it's easier for the marketing and for my signatures and

01:15everything.

01:16So yeah, let's make that happen.
