Di Rosa (SItI), ‘vaccini e screening fondamentali contro papilloma virus’

(Adnkronos) - “Le patologie Hpv correlate ogni anno colpiscono in Italia un numero importante di persone, in particolare attraverso i tumori alla cervice uterina. Vaccinazione e screening sono due strumenti efficaci per contrastare la diffusione del virus e, quindi, l'insorgenza di queste malattie”. Lo ha detto Enrico Di Rosa, presidente SitI – Società Italiana d’igiene medicina preventiva e sanità pubblica, in occasione della settima edizione  dell’Inventing for Life Health Summit - Investing for Life: la salute conta!” promosso a Roma da Msd Italia.

00:00The HPV-related pathologies, particularly the uterine cervix tumor, but also other cancers,

00:11are a pathology that every year in Italy affects a large number of people.

00:17And above all, there are 2,500 uterine cervix tumors in women,

00:23which are tumors that act at an early age,

00:26so they conquer young subjects with a high mortality rate.

00:29What is important is that we have 2 very effective tools

00:34to, how to say, counteract the spread of the virus and therefore the insurgency of these diseases.

00:39First of all, vaccination.

00:41In Italy, vaccination is actively offered to all girls and boys starting from the age of 10.

00:52And this early immunization is the best strategy,

00:56because this protection, which is obtained with only 2 injections at this early stage,

01:01allows to have a future life free from possible negative consequences, especially cancer.

01:09Another important tool is screening, the uterine cervix screening,

01:13aimed at women in Italy from the age of 25.

01:17It is absolutely important that all women know how important this tool is

01:22to prevent the spread of the disease through early and reasonable interventions.

01:28Screening is also an opportunity to recover vaccination in subjects

01:32who did not do it when they had to do it as teenagers,

01:36because even if the vaccination was late, that is, even after 18, 20 years,

01:43at an older age, it still has a protective effect,

01:47and in the pathology also in relation to the skin, and above all it protects from the tumor.

01:51So it is absolutely important that these 2 tools,

01:54which the health service offers actively to the whole population,

01:58are adequately used by the population.
