Macron says EU plans 'reciprocal' tariffs on US steel and aluminium

French President Emmanuel Macron says that the EU would impose "reciprocal" tariffs on US steel and aluminium if President Donald Trump moves ahead with the threatened 25 percent duties on European imports.

00:00So I think there is a mistake in principle and a mistake in pace.

00:04Then, once we have said that, there are the first tariffs that have been put, not just

00:09on Europeans, on aluminum and steel.

00:12If they are confirmed, the Europeans will respond.

00:16And so there will be reciprocal tariffs, because we have to protect ourselves, we have to defend

00:22ourselves.

00:23And if early April, as it was announced, tariffs were put on European products, at

00:28this point, the Europeans will have to respond.

00:31Because we don't have to respond, we don't have to be weak in the face of these measures.
