00:00The Department of Information and Communications Technology, or DICT, has turned over a mobile
00:07emergency communications van to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte to enhance its
00:12disaster response capability.
00:14The custom-built van, officially named as Government Emergency Communications System
00:18Mobile Operations Vehicle for Emergency, or GECSMOVE, was funded by the United Nations
00:24and World Food Program.
00:26Designed to equip disaster response teams with the latest communication tools, the GECSMOVE
00:31ensures that responders can efficiently manage operations directly from the site of emergencies.
00:37The mobile unit serves as a robust mobile command center during critical situations
00:42with state-of-the-art equipment that enhances situational awareness and facilitates rapid
00:47decision making.
00:48The GECSMOVE features a fully equipped emergency hub, advanced dispatch systems, a motorcycle
00:54for swift navigation, and drones for aerial surveillance, allowing responders to assess
00:59and respond to disaster zones more effectively.
01:02We need a pool of experts as well to identify the equipment needed for emergency telecommunications
01:11response.
01:12We need new technology, we need new science and new research to ultimately assist on the
01:19ground.
01:20While Ilohos Norte braces for future emergencies, the GECSMOVE represents a proactive approach
01:25to safeguarding communities and enhancing their resilience in the face of disaster.
