00:00In trail running, more than 700 athletes and trail runners are expected to compete in the Philippine National Trail Running Championships

00:08that will be held in Danau City, Cebu.

00:11Our teammate Bernadette Inoy will be there again.

00:17This March, the Philippine National Trail Running Championships will be held in the well-known hiking trails in Danau City, Cebu.

00:2540 athletes, including Southeast Asian medallists, seasoned national team members, and veteran trail runners will compete in the elite category.

00:35In addition, more than 700 athletes will compete in the open category for the Long Trail, Short Trail, and Under-23 Mountain Classic event.

00:44According to Team Ferrera, Vice President and Secretary General of FILTRA,

00:48the selection process for the national pool that will be sent to the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships will also be held.

00:56This is the culminating event for them, for us to identify who is the national team for this coming year's season,

01:06and also a selection of who will be our delegation for the World Championships.

01:12Ferrera added that they will continue to select the national team as a preparation for other international competitions this year.

01:20There are still other competitive circuits.

01:24There's the Golden Trail Series, World Trail Majors, and then UTMB also.

01:33These are the other competitions.

01:37There's also the Sky Running Series.

01:39These are the circuits that if our athletes join, it will help them to gain exposure.

01:46Because, of course, we know that if they're the only ones competing, and it's only local, it doesn't really push them.

01:54The National Championships will be held from March 21 to March 23 in Danau, Northern Cebu.

02:02Ferrera is also encouraging all runners to try and join the sport of trail running.

02:07To those who want to try trail running, it's a sport that you will enjoy.

02:14It will challenge you, but it will bring you closer to nature.
