4-year-old’s drawing uncovers mother’s murder in Jhansi

A chilling case unfolded in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, where a 4-year-old girl's drawing led to the truth behind her mother’s brutal murder.

00:51Sonali and Sandeep got married in 2019.

00:54Allegedly, she had faced harassment over dowry ever since her marriage.

00:58Despite receiving Rs 20 lakhs in cash as dowry, Sandeep and his family continued to demand

01:11Sonali was often beaten up by the husband and the in-laws, the father said.

01:20Following these incidents, Sonali's family filed a case against her in-laws, and she

01:24lived with her parents for two years.

01:25Later, a family-led mediation resulted in reconciliation, and Sonali returned to Jhansi,

01:30her father said.

01:31However, on the morning of 17 February 2025, her in-laws claimed she had died by suicide.

01:37On the same day, their 4-year-old daughter alleged that the father himself had hung the

01:41mother.

01:42Soon after, Sandeep was arrested, and the family faced charges related to dowry death

01:52and cruelty against a woman.

01:54On 19 February 2025, Darshata performed the last rites of her mother, Sonali.
