00:00I was four years old when I went out our back door and saw a huge plume of smoke stretching

00:27across the sky. My two brothers, two sisters and mother were around the table talking about

00:35this terrible crash in Anglipois. My big sister, who had set off to Brownies, turned around

00:44and came back in tears because ten houses up from where I lived, the bomber, me amigo,

00:54was skimming the rooftops, forced down by bad weather, and she saw his last final turn

01:02to the park. She knew, she was old enough to know what war was about. So, although I've

01:12been away from Sheffield on and off for sixty years, we've always kept our house back here.

01:19And this memorial means a lot to me because I come frequently to check that it's being

01:31kept in a neat and tidy way.
