00:00This is Japan, and this is Canada, and this is Italy.
00:09Wow, you're so good, Ate Shai.
00:14You're so good, Ate Shai.
00:16There are so many countries, but you know all of them.
00:19Where can we find them?
00:21Hey, not all of them.
00:23But I'm happy because this is what I'm learning here in GLOW.
00:27That's why even if I'm not on an airplane, I feel like I'm traveling around the world.
00:32Huh? Around the world?
00:34That's possible.
00:36Is there something like that already?
00:38Yes, there is.
00:39And even before, even if there's no airplane, there's something like that already.
00:44And did you know that the first one to do that was the flight of NAO Victoria?
00:50NAO Victoria?
00:52What's that?
00:53NAO Victoria or Barcong Victoria is the first ship that circumnavigated the world.
01:01And it's one of the five ships that the explorer Ferdinand Magellan used for an expedition from 1519 to 1522.
01:13That's a long time, right?
01:15Yes.
01:16And did you know that there are replicas of NAO Victoria in Spain, Chile, France, and other parts of the world?
01:24While Ferdinand Magellan and his crew were traveling around the world in 1520,
01:29they saw strange geese in Argentina.
01:33But it turns out that those aren't geese.
01:36They saw penguins, Magellan.
01:38Wow!
01:40Is it true that Ferdinand Magellan was the first person to circumnavigate the world?
01:44Actually, he didn't circumnavigate the world.
01:47He only circumnavigated half of the world because he moved to the Philippines.
01:52Of the five ships and 270 people that Magellan and his crew sailed with in September 20, 1519,
02:00only one ship and 21 crew members were able to return to Spain.
02:06One year, Magellan and his crew sailed when they found a dangerous waterway between South America and Tierra del Fuego.
02:15This is the Strait of Magellan, which is a route to the Pacific Ocean.
02:20But it still reached the Philippines, right?
02:23Yes, on March 15, 1521.
02:25But not long after, it was hit by an arrow when it went to Cebu.
02:30Magellan was the one who planned the expedition.
02:33But his 21 remaining crew members were the ones who sailed around the world and were able to return to Spain.
02:41And because of that expedition, they were able to prove that the world can be circumnavigated.
02:46And that the planet Earth is round.
02:48I believe.
