00:16In a statement, the Vatican said the 88-year-old Francis, who has double pneumonia, had suffered

00:22a prolonged, asthma-like respiratory crisis.

00:26The statement says the Holy Father's condition remains critical, and that he is not out of

00:30danger.

00:31It also said the Holy Father remains alert and has spent the day in a chair, though he

00:36is more unwell than yesterday, and that at the moment, the prognosis remains guarded.

00:42The Pope was admitted to Rome's Gemelli Hospital on Feb. 14 after experiencing difficulty breathing

00:48for several days.
