00:00So Safer to be Me is going to be a huge global summit held here in the northeast of England.
00:04It's an opportunity to bring people together in very divided times where LGBTQI plus people are being weaponized around the world.
00:12So it's an opportunity to bring people from different countries or from the UK to a week-long summit held in October this year.
00:18It's a partnership between Report Out Pride Action North and Out North East.
00:22So three of the region's biggest LGBTQ charities were coming together to stage this amazing festival.
00:29But it's not just for the LGBTQ plus community.
00:33It's for all allies to come together and say that the northeast is a safe place to be.
00:38There's going to be huge benefits.
00:39It's going to truly show what the northeast is an inclusive place to be.
00:43We're renowned for our hospitality and our friendliness.
00:45This is a great opportunity to welcome people from around the world and from across the UK.
00:49It's going to be a great place to be, lots of fun, lots of energy, lots of people who are passionate about this cause.
00:55And there's an economic benefit to staging the summit.
00:58We're expecting 500 people from around the globe to descend on Newcastle for the whole week and further outside of the region,
01:05because it's not just Newcastle centric.
01:06We hope to go in Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead.
01:09And it's showcasing what a great place the region is to live, work and play.
01:14We are a safe space, but we need to shout about it a bit more.
01:18The whole purpose behind Safer to be Me and the week-long summit is to bring everyone together to sign a huge solidarity statement.
01:26So whether you're from China, whether you're from Colombia or here in the UK,
01:30it's an opportunity to sign a really important document to say that we stand together with our allies to make a global shout out.
01:38People can get involved in so many ways.
01:40We want people getting involved in the run up to Safer to be Me.
01:44So the whole theme of Safer to be Me, whatever that is, whether it's a local community group doing an arts project
01:49or it's a much bigger corporate organisation who want to get involved and sponsor some of what we're doing.
01:54This is a perfect opportunity to get involved on all levels.
01:57Be an ally, stand up and be proud.
