00:00In this summit we actually see how important it is to exchange knowledge,
00:05find possible ways to cooperate with different governments,
00:09but also there's a lot of discussions about public-private partnership.
00:13So it is essential to be in this kind of summits and actually have all the connections possible.
00:21Governments have to be enablers of this change at lightening speech.
00:30They have to provide the necessary infrastructure.
00:36And they have particularly to cooperate with business,
00:41because this transition into this new intelligent age
00:47will only be mastered if all stakeholders of global society work together.
00:54Klaus Schwab addresses a packed plenary hall as the World Government Summit opened in Dubai
00:59under the theme Shaping Future Governments.
01:02The government summit is all about sharing. It's all about looking at the whole world.
01:09We are all living on this planet. So whether it's an environmental thing,
01:13or an improvement thing, or a service we give to our people, it has to be done at the latest
01:23technologies and at the speed of light as everything is moving around.
01:28And we believe that governments need to cooperate and learn from the private sector.
01:33So this partnership between governments and private sector,
01:37we're going to see it evolving and changing our lives in the future.
01:41With 30 heads of state and delegates from 140 countries, the World Government Summit
01:47has welcomed the world's most prominent thought leaders, global experts and over 6,000 attendees.
01:55The next frontier of artificial intelligence was high on the agenda,
01:59as was discussions about digitization.
02:02Now Estonia has all its government services online. 100% of governmental services
02:08are now digitalized. So it gives really good access for Estonian people. It's easy to use,
02:14it's transparent. And the next big step definitely will be implementing the usage of AI
02:21in governmental services, but also in public-private partnership.
02:24Its importance was also echoed by the European Commission, who were represented at the summit.
02:30Digital age is very important because citizens are used that they can actually connect everywhere,
02:37change, and also government should be minded in this way. Interoperability standards are very
02:43important. Openness is very important. And also operation, it's important. So that is the meaning
02:51of being digitally connected and government services of the citizens of the world.
02:57Bilateral partnerships and conversations around President Trump's new US administration
03:02and ties with Europe also dominated talks.
03:06We are looking forward to the, especially the economy part of the Trump's administration plan
03:11is, sounds very, very exciting. And we are really excited about all the innovation that's going to
03:16be unfolding in the following months and years. And this is really, really something that excites
03:21us a lot. I think it's going to pull Europe as well to do much more than Europe was maybe
03:27intending to do. So I'm really hopeful that US will be kind of icebreaker for all of us,
03:33so that we speed up the reforms, we speed up innovation. It's going to be fun.
03:39Media representation also helped support European ties with the summit.
03:43We are obviously the only non-American, non-regional media, the only Europeans to be present.
03:48And we project not just Euronews' voice, but also Europe's voice in the international scene.
03:53Two things that are important. First is that our presence and our expansion around the world
03:58is really seen and is really marked by being in events like this. And second is we have to
04:05build the bridges for Europe, the dialogue. And in the year that marks the return of
04:10profitability to Euronews, being the big European presence in an event like this is
04:15critically important for us. There were famous faces from the world of sport who also came
04:20together to debate how to shape the future through collective efforts and strategic
04:25international partnerships. Sport does not exist without society, and society will not exist
04:32without sport. If we look to the sport industry, in 2022 this will become a business of about
04:40500 billion dollars. It's not entertainment, this is really sport for life.
04:46The three-day summit successfully brought together the world's forward thinkers and
04:50in turn provided new strategies to help meet the growing challenges of the future.
