Humanitarian crisis escalates in Colombia with nearly 85,000 displaced in Catatumbo

Authorities of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) of Colombia, warned on Monday about the increase of a humanitarian crisis in the territory of Catatumbo, due to the armed conflicts between the guerrillas of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the 33rd Front of the FARC dissidents, which impacts about 85,000 people, including indigenous communities and Venezuelan migrants. teleSUR

00:18The official pointed out that the violence in Catatumbo has generated the largest mass

00:22displacement in recorded history, with communities and families confined, with restricted mobility

00:28and limited access to food, medical care and humanitarian aid.

00:32Other sources report that at least 56 people have been killed in clashes that began on

00:37January 16 in the region between the ELN and the 33rd Front of the FARC dissidents.
