00:00Hi, this is Chief Rennie with the Grand Blanc Township Police Department and this here is Hank.
00:05Hank was abandoned at the Crecy Bicentennial Park a few weeks ago.
00:11He was abandoned in a port-a-potty very similar to this.
00:14I want to talk about the incident and then also give a call to action to all pet owners.
00:20So we were notified about Hank being abandoned inside the port-a-potty here at the park by our Parks and Rec team.
00:28We instantly started an investigation.
00:31He was abandoned for more than two days at the park.
00:36So we assigned this case to Officer Galenski, one of our top officers,
00:41who diligently worked to be the voice for Hank.
00:45What Officer Galenski found out
00:49was he made contact with the suspect who was a 25 year old female from Grand Blanc Township.
00:56She has not been arraigned yet in court, so I cannot release the name at this time.
01:03So the 25 year old female said that she abandoned Hank because the landlord
01:09could not accept the pit bull breed.
01:13She didn't know what to do with it, so she left Hank inside a port-a-potty.
01:17Now one of the employees, a good Samaritan named Jacob,
01:21who works for the company who services the port-a-potty,
01:25found Hank. What he found
01:27was Hank was freezing, freezing cold.
01:30Dog feces spread throughout the port-a-potty and pet urine.
01:36There was no water for Hank, just a small bowl of food.
01:40So my call for action for all pet owners is to be a responsible pet owner.
01:46Remember,
01:48you chose the animal. The animal did not choose you.
01:52We will be the voice for animals
01:54that go through animal cruelty.
01:57That 25 year old female was arrested.
02:01Now,
02:02we do have some severe cold weather
02:05coming within the next couple of days. I want to remind everybody,
02:09bring your animals inside
02:11or at least provide a nice warm shelter for them. It is a felony
02:16if you leave them outside and they end up dying due to the cold weather or any animal cruelty.
02:24Now last but not least,
02:27the good side.
02:29Hank is still with
02:31the employee
02:32who found Hank.
02:33He's being very well taken care of. I'd also like to give a shout out to our Grambling community
02:40who found out about this story previous to this video being released.
02:45The Grambling Veterinarian Hospital.
02:47Thank you for giving Hank his first years of shots and also stepping up to have him neutered when he becomes of age.
