00:00During the election campaign in 2025, the Commission on Elections asked Comelec if negative campaigning is allowed.
00:06Comelec replied that the law does not prohibit negative campaigning or speaking negatively about other candidates.
00:15But he reminded that the candidates should be careful because if there are too many cases of libel and cyber libel,
00:22it could be a blow to them.
00:25It is in the law that it is allowed.
00:28But if it is bordering on something which is already criminal,
00:31there are two options, either disqualification of the candidate and at the same time,
00:36criminal case against the candidate involved.
00:41But if we lower the negative campaigning per se, we cannot do that.
