European leaders stress support for Ukraine but disagree on peacekeeping mission

An informal summit in Paris among European leaders concluded without any concrete announcement, as the idea of deploying peacekeeping troops to Ukraine remains highly divisive.

00:00European leaders have vowed continuous support for Ukraine during emergency talks in Paris,

00:07hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. This comes after the U.S. opted for direct

00:12peace talks with Russia, bypassing European allies.

00:17Together with NATO, the countries reaffirmed their key support for Ukraine, aiming for

00:21a united front with the United States.

00:25There should be no division of security and responsibility between Europe and the U.S.

00:32This means that NATO is based on the fact that we always act together and are together

00:37in the risk and ensure our security. This should not be questioned.

00:43This must also be kept in mind.

00:45But division remains over a possible post-war peacekeeping troop deployment in Ukraine.

00:49In the event, a ceasefire is signed.

00:52So can these European countries convince U.S. President Donald Trump that they should be

00:57invited to the negotiating table?
