00:00It's a film made by people that love each other, it's a film made by people that love cinema
00:06and hopefully that'll translate with the audiences as well.
00:11It's not an easy watch, was it as difficult for you actors as well not to be overly invested?
00:17Once we are on set and we're in front of the camera then you of course don't think about how
00:20are you going to don't give your 100% because it might you know have kind of an effect on your
00:26mental health. You are fully there, you're reacting to the situation in the situation
00:31but the kind the way Anwar sir shoots is like he keeps the set very light you know so once you get
00:36out of the scene he would cheer you up, he would get an environment where you're just you know
00:43joking around and then cracking some stupid jokes so that it doesn't really have that kind of an
00:48impact you know on you personally but I think all the actors in the film especially in this
00:53film are very responsible and very experienced actors so they all understood their responsibility
00:58towards the material that was given to us.
01:01As Raj rightly said that you know when you take on a project like this there is a certain amount
01:05of responsibility on you as a performer to make sure that everything that the text that's written
01:11your director's vision you do utmost justice to you know so the harshness of it, the heaviness
01:18of it is something we embrace you know in fact us as actors you know and I can say that for Raj's
01:25work because of his body of work I can say that for sure that you know we kind of thrive when we
01:30get material like the material we got in Veer. You don't often get parts where you kind of get to
01:37break the boundaries that you've created for yourself or you know be a part of stories that
01:41are disruptive and Veer is all of that and yes you know fortunately for us this ship was led by
01:48somebody like Anubhav Sinha who is extremely sensitive towards his actors you know he is
01:53he's an actor's director he does create an environment for you which is safe which is secure
01:58you feel like okay even if I'm going through something I have people that I can go and share
02:05that instance with so all in all it was a very, very memorable journey it was it's a film made by
02:12people that love each other, it's a film made by people that love cinema and hopefully that'll
02:18translate with the audiences as well.
02:20Did you have any reservations about taking on the role because at the end of the day
02:24this is also a movie that talks about perhaps the system in place in India and how we dealt with a crisis?
02:31No, actually once you see the film you'll realize actually it talks about a lot many things and not
02:36that it actually talks about how we as humans came together in those trying times and how we
02:43all are so different from each other and how we react to situations differently as our own you
02:49know prejudices or our upbringing so I think it talks about us a lot many things apart from what
02:54you just said yeah.
02:55Was it difficult to pull off those emotionally charged sequences?
02:59It gives me a high whenever I do a scene like that I think as an actor that's what you crave for
03:04you know it should be as challenging it should be as exciting so whenever I get a typical scene
03:09that gives me way more high than anything.
03:12And was this a master class for you Bhoomi as well such talented actors in this?
03:17Oh absolutely I feel like as performers you're constantly looking forward to working with
03:23co-actors that up your performance as well you know life as an artist was all about learning
03:28and I could say that proudly that there was a lot of learning on this set for sure like you know to
03:34have the likes of Pankaj sir, Ashutosh Rana, Virendra Saxena you know Aditya Sivastava, Kritika, Diya
03:41I mean it was such a packed group of people that were working together towards this one motive
03:47about you know trying to make this film the best that they can so I think I walked out
03:54very, very inspired for sure.
03:56Do you think this movie kind of helped you explore yourself as an actor?
04:01I think it's a once in a lifetime opportunity that you get to be a part of something which
04:06is black and white which is so artistic I feel so I think we all are very fortunate that we can
04:10say after 10 years that you know we have done a film which is black and white because we've all
04:14seen a senior actress doing those black and white films and it looks there's something
04:19very unique about it I as it's very orgasmic actually to just see yourself in black and
04:26white frame on a big screen.
04:27I feel it's very liberating and it's also extremely challenging because as you rightly
04:31said there are no distractions you know it is just you, your eyes do most of the talking
04:37you know and you're just naked so the truth of how good a performer you are definitely
04:42comes out then so I feel like for any performer this definitely is once is an opportunity
04:48that happens once in a lifetime I don't see myself doing a black and white film
04:53I wouldn't say never but not very soon could not have been a better visual narrative for
04:58Veer than for it to be shot the way it is because you know we are portraying a time
05:06when a crisis hit everyone globally you know and at the same level and so just to kind of
05:14uniform all the experiences I feel there couldn't have been a better way but to go black and white with the film.
05:20How has Anubhav Sinha altered you as a performer?
05:23I had a great time working with him he is such a dear friend now of course during the
05:27shoot we realized that how cool he is as a person, he is brilliant of course we're all aware of it
05:32with his filmography Mulk Thapar, Article 15 but as a person I think I'm a fan of him as a person
05:39he is so genuine, he is so full of life and he's always, he always inspires you he's got this
05:48great energy about him you know I suppose and his sense of humour I think we really
05:53connected on that stupid sense of humour.
