00:00Hi, my name is Yasir and I'm someone that loves desserts.
00:09But growing up, I have begun to wonder whether the things that we get today commercially
00:14within supermarkets, packaged, not packaged, in restaurants, is that really healthy for
00:20our kids as they are developing their minds and their bodies growing up?
00:26So when my wife and I, we were about to have our first child, I began to wonder whether
00:33there is an alternate solution for this.
00:36I really wanted my daughter to enjoy desserts as much as I do, but not having to pay for
00:42it with her health.
00:44So what I decided to do is, I decided that I'm going to spend some time into learning
00:49a little bit more about desserts and snacks and patisserie in general to see what other
00:55options are available out there.
00:58So that has led to a four-year journey where pretty much we have not fed our daughter any
01:05refined sugar, any packaged or unhealthy snacks, unhealthy, right?
01:12And the way we have done it is, progressively over the years, we have used tastier and much
01:19more nutritious substitutes for white sugar.
01:23As a result, what has happened is that our daughter, she loves fresh fruits, she loves
01:28options.
01:29We don't have to argue with her or bargain with her to choose a packaged confectionary
01:37versus fresh fruits or fresh juices, etc.
01:41And this is really the message I want to share with everybody based on what I have seen.
01:46I know there is a myth out there that desserts and baking especially is very complex, it's
01:52very scientific and very difficult.
01:54And sure, if you were a Michelin star restaurant or a commercial kitchen, that would definitely
02:00be one of the things that you would have to consider.
02:02But honestly, we are all just parents trying to provide our kids with a healthy alternative
02:08and a healthy lifestyle and trying to keep them happy and safe and healthy.
02:12So for that purpose, I can assure you there are many recipes out there that allow for
02:18a huge margin of error without compromising on taste or texture or flavor.
02:23And your kids will love it just like my daughter has.
02:27There are many, many resources available online across YouTube, across Pinterest, Instagram,
02:35what have you, across social media.
02:37Many, many people, professionals, experienced people are advocating and talking about recipes
02:43and ways of cooking desserts that do not need to involve copious amount of white sugar
02:51in it or refined sugar in it.
02:54I know all our realities are different.
02:56And I respect the fact that we come from different places, different backgrounds, and we're just
03:01trying to do the best for our children.
03:04So this is my message to everybody.
03:07I would really encourage all of you to look into these ideas and concepts out there and
03:13see what differences you can make today.
03:15It doesn't have to be giant leaps.
03:17You don't have to change your entire kitchen, right?
03:20We can take small little steps as you plan your groceries, as you plan your meals for
03:26the week.
03:27Make little, little changes, small substitutions, which will allow you not only greater control
03:34of what goes into your children's bodies, but there are also tastier options, things
03:40that are more economically viable.
03:42And these are all going to help our kids to have a better and healthier future.
03:46So at the end of the day, I just want to wish everybody best of luck, lots of love, and
03:52I hope you all have a great day.
