Plans are underway to roll out a high-speed skypod transport system for passengers and cargo in Sharjah. The suspended transport system, which involves the movement of driverless pods on “strings" – which are a bundle of tensioned steel tracks attached on concrete supports – is being tested at Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park).

The suspended transport system is different from the conventional pulley system of cable cars or aerial trams, which continuously move and circulate around two terminal stations at a speed between 10 to 20 km per hour. Sky pods are connected to high-tensioned steel wire and move back and forth independently.

The uCar (passenger sky pod) that can carry up to four passengers runs on 400-metre test track at SRTI Park at a speed of up to 50km per hour. A longer 2.4km string-rail system will be completed between October to November this year and the driverless hanging electric pod will be tested to run up to 150km per hour.

00:00We are very delighted to have the U.S.CAI projects in the Sharjah Research and Technology
00:13Park.
00:14Sharjah Research and Technology Park is one of the largest Middle East technology parks
00:18at the moment.
00:19We are very proud to host technologies related to transport and logistics, 3D, agricultures
00:24and others.
00:25The U.S.CAI project is a key project for us here in Sharjah.
00:29This is a project that we hope, out of Sharjah, that is going to go global.
00:33At the moment, the U.S.CAI company is testing three lines of different types of passenger
00:38and cargo trains.
00:40We hope that their testing will be successful and we will be able to commercialize this
00:45technology and take it to the market.
00:47In Sharjah, we are looking at different options.
00:49We are looking at options in Khofakar and we are also working on options in the city
00:54as well.
00:55We look forward to commercialize this technology and make it one of the biggest successes in
00:59this region.
01:00As we know, mobility is a global topic.
01:02There are more congestion, production of CO2 and other sustainable challenges that we go
01:08through.
01:09We believe that U.S.CAI will solve some of these challenges because it uses less land,
01:15less energy and is more efficient.
01:17So we believe that this U.S.CAI product will definitely implement to the mobility strategy
01:24and infrastructure of Sharjah and the entire United Arab Emirates.
01:27The transport solution of U.S.CAI is meant to be very cost-effective and it's meant to
01:33support public transport and make it more efficient and effective.
01:36We consider our Unitsky String transport technology is something that will solve all these questions.
01:45First of all, it is a power-saving system.
01:49The second, it is completely green and ecological.
01:55The third, it gives certain comfort to people.
01:59But the main thing, it's completely safe.
02:01We have implemented artificial intelligence system that monitors all these things.
02:08We are doing all these tests and other things.
02:11This system can reach up to 150 kilometers per hour speed.
02:16But at the same time, we are developing high-speed transport that is still a concept that will
02:23reach 500 kilometers per hour speed.
02:26So it means that we have transport solutions for inside the city for passengers and we
02:33have transport solutions for outside the city.
