00:12I'm shooting the drama and new series.

00:23I started acting because it was fun to be a new person.
00:29And now that I've done a few series, I feel like I've become a different person.
00:35I think it's new and different from when I was a singer.
00:40And I feel like you're also a new character when you do new music.
00:43And we're here to talk about the new music today.
00:45Earthquake is so good. I was about to blow listening to it.
00:54So tell me why that song was the first one you wanted to offer up to your fans.
00:58When I first fell in love with the song, I was so nervous.
01:04But as soon as I heard the song, I felt so good.
01:09I felt like I was shaking.
01:11So I thought this song was perfect for the title.
01:15And when I first listened to it, I felt the same way.
01:19That's why I chose this song.
01:22And do you feel like there was some inspiration behind that subject that made you really lock into it?
01:27When you're a singer, you have to be a new person.
01:34So when I first heard this song, I thought I could decorate it with a lot of different concepts.
01:40And since it's been a while since I made a comeback,
01:43I thought it would be fun for BLINKS who have been waiting for me for a long time.
01:48That's why I chose this song.
01:51Oh, the BLINKS are so excited about it.
01:53And then what do you think they're going to think of it being Valentine's Day today?
01:56I have to ask. Was that a coincidence?
01:58Was it purposeful for this song to come out today?
02:00The name of this album is a combination of Amor and Montage.
02:07It's a combination of love and Montage.
02:10The whole album is made up of short stories about love.
02:15I thought it would be romantic if it came out on that day.
02:19That's why I chose it on that day.
02:26And then of course, there's a cute dance that goes with Earthquake as well.
02:29So are you going to teach it to me?
02:30Yeah, of course.
02:31Okay, I want to make sure we learn it.
02:33I'm going to make sure we do that.
02:34But I do want to talk to you about how important it is for choreography to match your songs.
02:38Because of course, Flower has such a huge moment.
02:45So what is it like to create dances for your songs?
02:47I think choreography is very important for dance songs.
02:52When you listen to it for the first time and see it with your eyes,
02:56you have to see it clearly so that when people see it or listen to it,
03:01it reminds them of something.
03:03So I always make sure to pay attention to the point choreography.
03:13I cannot wait for everybody to do the dance.
03:15I wanted to ask you about in the past,
03:17you obviously had singles and smaller projects,
03:19but this is the first EP.
03:21So why was it time to put more songs out at the same time?
03:52And let's really quickly go through a little bit of the EP.
03:55I want to talk about the other songs.
03:56Hugs and Kisses, I love.
03:58I felt like everybody's been through that kind of relationship before.
04:01So how was it to create that song?
04:22And then also, Your Love.
04:31I'm not going to lie.
04:32I was a little jealous because I'm like,
04:33it sounds like you found the perfect man.
04:35So now I got to know, when you're singing Your Love,
04:37what is your perfect man?
04:38Give me three qualities.
04:52And I think the laughter code is very important.
04:54If it doesn't fit, it's not fun.
04:58I like that.
04:59So you guys will pick the same movies,
05:00go to the same restaurants.
05:01Okay, I like this, I like this.
05:03And then do you approach your studio sessions any differently
05:06when you're with the girls of BLACKPINK
05:07or when you're doing some solo music?
05:09What's the difference in the recording process?
05:21When I was doing solo music with the members,
05:23the members would rap and other voices would come out
05:26so it felt like it was a mix.
05:28But when I was doing it alone,
05:30I had to make sure the song wasn't boring at all.
05:34So I talked a lot with the producer
05:37and we interacted a lot musically.
05:39I can't believe you would ever be worried about that.
05:41You're a superstar.
05:42Your songs are great.
05:43It's so good.
05:44I can't rap.
05:45And I do want to talk to you about something I noticed.
05:47When I was listening to the EP,
05:49it felt like really pure pop to me,
05:51which I love pop music, so it was so good.
05:53But I noticed a lot of BLACKPINK's music
05:55obviously tends to be a little more hip-hop.
05:57So is that something that, as a choice that you made,
05:59to do more pop sound?
06:05I think there are different sides to BLACKPINK
06:09and different sides to solo music.
06:12Since it's been a while since I did solo music,
06:15I wanted to bring a side of BLACKPINK
06:17that I didn't get to see before,
06:19so I chose songs that were more pop.
06:23Some of my favorite pop music,
06:25I'm just going to throw this out there,
06:26is Britney Spears, Kim Petras, Love.
06:28Who are some of your pop inspirations?
06:30Oh, I love Britney Spears, too.
06:33When I was growing up,
06:35I listened to a lot of Britney Spears' music.
06:37When I was preparing for my solo career,
06:39I sang Britney Spears'
06:41Baby One More Time.
06:43I always wanted to show my music video
06:45and make it pop.
06:47I always take it as a reference.
06:49Girl, alright. I see you, I see you.

06:54So obviously, the tour is coming up
06:56with BLACKPINK and the girls over the summer.
