00:00Two Filipina drug mules carrying a little over two kilos of coke and headed to Hong Kong were

00:04intercepted by a carefully laid out NBI dragnet that ended with the arrest of West and West

00:10African drug courier. Our Harley Valbuena narrates this tale of human trafficking that traces back

00:16all the way to Pasay City last month but still ends well with the two Filipinas ultimately let free.

00:22The National Bureau of Investigation rescued two Filipino women in Malaysia recruited by a West

00:30African narcotics syndicate as drug mules for cocaine bound for Hong Kong. In a press conference

00:36earlier today the NBI presented the two victims whose identities were kept hidden for their

00:42protection. The recruitment was discovered through follow-up operations on 25 million pesos worth of

00:48cocaine seized from a drug courier in Pasay City last January.

01:18With the help of Malaysian authorities the NBI intercepted 2.3 kilograms of cocaine worth 15.6

01:31million pesos before it could hit the streets for distribution to Filipino victims. One African drug

01:38courier was also arrested. According to the NBI the African drug trafficking syndicate usually

01:44recruits Filipinos who are financially distressed, jobless and can speak English. The arrested African

01:50will be prosecuted in Malaysia while the two Filipinos will undergo counseling and are free

01:57of any criminal liability.

01:59It's better to save the victims of Filipinos than to have another Veloso case.
