00:17In his visit to the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai,
00:21First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos praised the administration's success
00:27in protecting the environment,
00:29particularly the rehabilitation of the historic Pasig River,
00:33which was made possible by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.'s interagency.
00:38Unfortunately, no one really took care of the river and its environs.
00:44And over the years, it has become a sight for sore eyes.
00:49It was polluted, dirty, stinky, and every other adjective you could think of.
00:54The First Lady also witnessed the signing of an agreement
00:57between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
01:01and the Clean Rivers Organization of the UAE.
01:04Here, the UAE donated US$20 million for the continuation
01:09of the Pasig River Bigyang Buhay Muli Project.
01:12And now, thanks to the assistance provided by the UAE,
01:17especially Clean Rivers, which is an Earth Zayed initiative,
01:21thank you very much again.
01:23We just signed the MOU earlier.
01:28We will be able to clean our river and hopefully make it a showcase,
01:33much like the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok or the Sien in Paris.
01:38The First Lady also reiterated the importance of public-private partnership
01:43for the fulfillment of such initiatives.
01:46These are but three examples of how genuine cooperation
01:50between government and the private sector can help achieve change
01:55that is sustainable, meaningful, and inclusive.
02:00As I've always said, government cannot do it alone.
02:04We need to work closely with the private sector
02:07if we are going to make a meaningful change.
02:09The government's Lab for All program was also a part of the First Lady's message
02:15to give medical services to Filipinos, especially in remote areas.
