00:00Hello everyone. I'm standing here in the heart of the Al Naif street where the 24-hour movement
00:05restriction has been lifted by the Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management
00:11on Sunday, April 26. The move was done because there was no positive COVID-19 case reported
00:19in this area as well as the Al Raas area for the last two days. Seeing the success of this,
00:25the committee has decided to remove 24-hour movement restrictions. We at Gulf News are here
00:32to speak to some vendors as well as people living in the area to find out how life has been for them
00:38the last two weeks. So let's go and talk to them and find out how it has been.
00:43The shop is almost closed for almost a month. Okay. Yeah. And the police has done a very good,
00:51fantastic job here. They control everything and they monitor each and every person.
00:58And then after monitoring everyone, the situation got under control of Dubai police.
01:03We followed the instruction of the Dubai government. Stay home, stay safe.
01:21When we were in isolation, my family members, we were four of them. My father, my mother,
01:49my wife and my three-year-old kid. We were staying at home. That's it. We didn't step out.
01:54We didn't step out from our house. And for groceries and everything, delivery was going on,
02:01so we could order on phone and they used to deliver it. Everything was locked down,
02:06but thanks to the government, they have taken very good care. Food was provided,
02:12all the essentials were provided. Business was closed down for exactly around one month,
02:17you can say. It was closed down for one month and it has been affected. Obviously, it has been
02:22affected, but we had a PDC also issued to our suppliers, to our landlords. We're thankful to
02:27the Dubai government. Whatever they have done, they have done for our safety, not for them.
02:32Yeah. For our safety first and then for themselves. So we are very grateful to the Dubai government.
02:39So as you can see, the Al-Ras and Naif areas are slowly crawling back to normalcy.
02:45We spoke to a number of vendors. They are, of course, concerned about the negative impact of
02:51all this in their business. They have issued a number of PDCs to suppliers, but they're also
02:59banking on the receivables that are due to them. All in all, they have thanked the government of
03:06Dubai for the massive and great effort that they have taken to contain the spread of COVID-19.
03:14They all said they followed the measures completely that was laid down by the government.
03:20They are hopeful of a brighter future as things get back to normal slowly.
03:26This is Anjana Kumar for Gulf News.
