Angela Rayner reveals she took advice from NHS trauma specialists ahead of Grenfell demolition meeting

Angela Rayner has told LBC that that she took advice from NHS trauma specialists ahead of her meeting with Grenfell families and survivors over the demolition of the tower.

00:00I knew it was going to be a really difficult meeting and you know the

00:03Secretary of State's before me have not made decisions on the tower and I think

00:09some of that is because it's really difficult and I know it was going to be

00:12very traumatic to the people. I took advice from trauma specialists at the

00:17NHS there with me to try and give the clear information and to do it in a way

00:24that was as as less traumatic as it could be but it was always it was always

00:29going to be a really horrible difficult decision. And I knew Andrew that there was not a

00:34consensus because I'd consulted and spoke to many different people the

00:37bereaved I spoke to survivors I spoke to the local headteachers of the schools

00:41there where the children are still traumatized every day as they're walking

00:45around the tower I spoke to the community and I knew there wasn't a

00:50consensus I knew it was going to be really difficult but I also knew that

00:53had the engineering advice as well and on top of the views that I got and the

00:58engineering advice I knew that the only decision to make really was that the

01:01tower had to come down.
