00:00Curtin University, Dubai, located in International Academic City, has put together a theme-based
00:09adventure game for students staying back in the summer.
00:12An escape room is basically a room where you get locked in for a particular amount of time.
00:17In our case it's 70 minutes, usually it is 60 minutes, and the participants have to find
00:23clues, solve puzzles in order to get out of the room.
00:27And for our escape room, obviously because it's education, we came up with the assignment
00:33theme, where the participants have to find an assignment and all the pieces that lead
00:38to the assignment, and then get out of the room.
00:42Raj here is an expert in solving puzzles, so he's going to bail me out.
00:48It always depends on the team who plays the room and how they connect with each other,
00:52and that's what makes the difficulty of the room as well.
00:55Let's go!
00:58The concept was initiated by the University Student Council and faculty members.
01:03There are totally six puzzles in the game to solve.
01:06Every puzzle unlocks a clue which eventually leads you to open the door to freedom.
01:11So we take this, this ball, so we just need to find a lock, there we go, got this, probably
01:22the lock.
01:25The best thing about the game is that you bond with your partner, you work as a team
01:29and help each other to find the clues.
01:31It's a great icebreaker.
01:33So what happens is, if everyone's joining uni at the same time, there isn't really much
01:37time to connect with each other.
01:39But a game like this, an escape room, really helps them to connect with each other and
01:42just form a bond over an hour or so.
01:45And that's impossible to do, but an escape room helps you to do that.
01:49No university had done an escape room before, and we wanted to bring more life on campus,
01:53especially after exams, students get stressed, not all of them go on holiday, so it was
01:58a great idea to just bring them back on campus and have them enjoy while using their grey
02:03cells and so on.
02:05In the end, we cracked the game in record 29 minutes, way ahead of the 70 minute deadline.
02:12It is an adventure that helps team building and leadership skills in a person.
